As a family owned and operated business, Croton Watch Co. started making watches in the later part of the 1800’s, around 1878. The company grew and quickly established themselves as one of the fine watchmakers for men of that time period.
Big size chronograph watches have started to pop up little by little around the 70's. It seemed like this is the time when Swiss watch companies became expressive as a way to win everyone against the Quartz movement that was quickly taking over. This large diver from Croton combines a well balance case and a very visible face with a distinctive subdials. While the dial itself is in great shape, it does have a small spot of missing paint between 7 and 8 o'clock but not really noticeable. Scratches and superficial scratches can be seen throughout the case and the crystal. The caseback text is still very visible.
